In the book of genesis we see that men called on the name of
the AlMighty :-
Gen 4:26 There was also born a son to Shet,
and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the LORD's name.
In the book of Proverbs we read the
Pro 30:4 Who has ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who has
gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in his garment? Who has established all the ends of
the earth? What is his name, and what
is his son's name, if you know?
What is his name and his son's name if you know it? That is a question
that man has tried either to answer or tried to forget. He has tried to answer in that he has forgotten the
name and he has tried to forget in that he knows the name but does not want others to call on this name. Why
is the name important?
The book of acts tells us.
Act 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them,
Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my
Act 2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but
the third hour of the day.
Act 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet
Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days,
saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream
Act 2:18 And on my servants and on my
handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall
Act 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the
earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
Act 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into
blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever
shall call on the name of
the Lord shall be
We see that Peter makes mention of the importance of the name, yet
this does not tell us what his name is. Now, if we go to the book of Joel, we will see the same prophesy
mentioned here by Peter.
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see
Joe 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those
days will I pour out my spirit.
Joe 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth,
blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Joe 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into
blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
Joe 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever
shall call on the name of the LORD shall be
We see that the importance of the name is vital to our well
AlMighty does not change, therefore his word does
not change and if that is true, for which I don't doubt for a minute, then his NAME never
changes. He is the same yesterday as he is today and he will be the same tommorow. Man however does change.
He changes like the weather, Hot one moment and cold the next.
Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not
When Abraham entered the land from Haran and at the place where he
built the second Alter, it was here that he called on the name of the AlMighty .
Gen 12:8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of
Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar
unto the LORD, and called upon the name of
There was a lot of calling on the name of the AlMighty in those days. We see that after Abraham's return from Egypt that he returns to the
place of the second alter and calls on the name of the AlMighty .
Gen 13:3 And he went on his journeys from the
south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and
Gen 13:4 Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at
the first: and there Abram called on the name of
All the scriptural quotes mentiuoned in this study so far have the
word LORD as the name of the AlMighty. The term God is also
mentioned in conjunction with his Name. Yet, this does not tell us what his name is. So how do we find out
what his name really is. Is there a way to find that out and if there is a way to find that out, then why is
it not being brought forth.
